Today was the first day that we were able to make it out after the 4 day NE. We got out to where we had been catching the yellowfins a few days earlier and the water was all churned up full of sediment from the strong winds and really rough seas. No tuna. We started heading to the southern trying to find the gulf stream change. We were behind a few boats so we didn’t really know what to think of it. We finally got to it and crossed. Not long getting in the pretty blue gulf stream water we had something get after the right long rigger Capt Tony eased it up with whatever it was close behind. Getting a better look at it we realized it was a rat blue marlin about 125#. Ole Capt didn’t flinch and rod tipped him. HOOKED UP BLUE MARLIN!! We quickly cleared the spread and started easing back on gaining very fast. It was a short battle of only 6 or 7 minutes before grabbing the leader for the release. Awesome! Great way to start the day. We got our spread back over and continued down the change. Not too much longer we caught a lost 40# yellowfin. Another big accomplishment for the day. We kept going down the line and began to catch a dolphin along by the end of it we caught 35 dolphin to wrap up a nice day back to work. We have days coming up available so give us a call (252)305-7960.
