Today was a overcast drizzly day. We set out and hooked a gaffer that jumped off just about as quick as he was hooked. Hoping that it wasn’t going to be the setting for the day we set back out and not long after hook and catch another gaffer. Thankful to have the skunk out we start trolling around. About 30 mins later we have a 300# blue marlin crash our left teaser. We cranked the short rigger up and pulled the teaser away. HOOKED UP BLUE MARLIN! We cranked everything in and 20 mins later we caught him. Setting back out jacked we trolled for 30 more mins and have another blue marlin hit the other teaser. He hits and goes away. Crap! Trolling around after that encounter for a little while we have a double of sails up hooked them and caught them. Set back and troll for a few more hours then have a swirl behind the left short rigger. Its our white one. Tension is on. Crank the big bait away and drop the little bait back and the fish disappeared. He came back on the teaser. We cranked the pitch up pulled the teaser away and the fish switched over text book style. Hooked up white marlin. We cleared the spread and started backing. Everything worked just right and we caught him. GRAND SLAM!!! The first one on our new boat. Awesome! Jacked out of our mind we set back out and start looking for more. We soon have another sail up and catch him. Now we are two up our slam. We set out again with time left to spare hoping for another one. Not too much later we hook and catch another sail. That was our last bite. We ended up with 1 blue marlin, 1 white marlin, and 4 sails plus a gaffer. A great day can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
